Acknowledged for her substantial skills in corporate reorganization and bankruptcy, and adept at fostering consensus in complex disputes, Judith Ross has provided legal counsel to clients operating in a broad range of industries in national and international bankruptcy cases.

With nearing 40 years of experience, first as an associate and then as a shareholder in the law firm of Thompson and Knight L.L.P, and subsequently, as a partner in the law firm of Baker Botts L.L.P., Ms. Ross brings a depth of knowledge to all aspects of corporate practice, restructuring, bankruptcy, and mediation; and provides superb representation for corporate debtors, major creditors, banks, hedge funds, committees, and trustees.

Ms. Ross currently serves as Co-Chair of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Subcommittee of the Business Bankruptcy Committee of the American Bar Association.

  • • Representation of creditors, creditors’ committees, debtors, and other parties in complex bankruptcy matters

    • Have handled more than 50 mediations with high success rate in the last ten years

    • Counsel to an independent QSE and ERCOT market participant in several bankruptcy cases, including a complex bankruptcy case caused by Winter Storm Uri

    • Counsel to a large royalty and working interest owner in a contested oil-and-gas reorganization and an adversary proceeding against the same debtor

    • Counsel to chapter 11 trustee (later liquidation trustee) in CFO Management Holdings, LLC bankruptcy, a complex chapter 11 liquidation of a family of real-estate-development companies

    • Counsel to judgment creditor/lender in a complex fraudulent transfer litigation

    • Counsel to a group of Texas homebuilders in an action defending an appealed sale order entered more than a decade prior

    • Counsel to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in the Think Finance bankruptcy case

    • Counsel to State Lands Commission (State of California) in the Rincon bankruptcy case

    • Counsel to primary secured lender in complex chapter 11 liquidation of a major retailer

    • Debtors’ counsel in chapter 11 reorganization proceedings of family of hotel and related businesses

    • Counsel to secured creditor in successfully opposing bankruptcy debtor’s proposed chapter 11 plan

    • Counsel to debtor in individual complex chapter 11 case and in successful month-long trial against the Internal Revenue Service on its asserted $1.2 billion claim

    • Counsel to committee and then liquidating trustee in In re Alco Stores

    • Conducted a three-year multimillion-dollar negotiation with indigenous people nation over federal reclamation claims related to bankruptcy debtor’s mining.

    • Counsel for debtors in possession in the bankruptcy of a telecommunications company, resulting in the sale of the company.

    • Counsel for debtors in the bankruptcy of multimillion-dollar performing arts center, in which critically cash-starved debtors were successfully sold within six weeks of the company’s bankruptcy filing, thereby preserving value for creditors.

    • Counsel to multinational telecommunications conglomerate regarding its multimillion-dollar claim against Adelphia bankruptcy
